The torch’s journey begins in Torino, the birthplace of the World University Games in 1959. Lit during the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games Winter, it symbolically links the Winter and Summer editions like never before. From there, the flame travels across Germany on its National Route – from south to north, passing historic landmarks and iconic sporting sites, supported by inspiring personalities along the way. It then continues on its Regional Route, returning to North Rhine-Westphalia. Accompanied by Minister-President Hendrik Wüst, the torch is officially welcomed to the host region during the Head of Delegation Welcome Dinner in Mülheim an der Ruhr, marking a key moment on its path to Rhine-Ruhr 2025.
