On 8 May, the regional leg of the torch relay begins in Bochum, marking a festive milestone on the road to the Rhine-Ruhr FISU World University Games 2025. Pupils from Bochum’s Elite Schools of Sport will receive the torch and accompany it through the city, starting from their school and heading with great enthusiasm to Bochum’s town hall. There, in a symbolic ceremony, the Host City plaque will be unveiled, celebrating Bochum’s role in the upcoming Games.
The regional route of our Flame Relay starts in Bochum on 8 May. Pupils from Bochum's elite sports schools will receive the torch and accompany it on its journey through the city. From the schoolyard, the torch will make its way to Bochum's town hall with great enthusiasm. The host city plaque will also be unveiled in this festive setting - a symbolic moment for Bochum's role in the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games.
The route continues along the Volunteer Mile, where committed citizens, students and well-known personalities will carry the torch, emphasising the importance of volunteering for sport and society.
A sporting highlight awaits the torch at the Georg Agricola University of Applied Sciences (Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola). It will be carried across the campus as part of a lively sports festival, accompanied by students and guests who will celebrate the anticipation of the FISU Games together.
The torch will then take a special route - the U35 university line will take it to Ruhr-Universität Bochum. There, the first stage of the regional route will be concluded with an atmospheric get-together - a perfect end to a day full of enthusiasm, community and sporting inspiration.
