Ischelandhalle becomes official venue of the FISU Games 2025 - plaque presentation in Hagen

Great moment before Phoenix Hagen's home game in the 2nd German Basketball League Pro A against Eisbären Bremerhaven: The Ischelandhalle was officially honoured as the venue of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. Rhine-Ruhr 2025 CEO Niklas Börger ceremoniously handed over the venue plaque - sending out a visible signal: Hagen is part of it!

The honour was accepted by Hagen's second mayor Dietmar Thießer and Martin Schmidt, Managing Director of Phoenix Hagen. The plaque symbolises Rhine-Ruhr 2025's recognition and thanks to the city of Hagen and the Ischelandhalle as an important venue for the basketball competitions.

„We are proud to be part of these games as well and will find a fitting place for the plaque,“ emphasised Mayor Thießer in his speech.

Hagen is a real basketball city. The fans of Phoenix Hagen have been creating a goosebump atmosphere in the hall for years, and the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games are delighted to be able to work with this sports-loving community.

Niklas Börger emphasised: „We can only put on an event of this magnitude with halls like this and people who put their heart and soul into it.“
