Kruppstraße 30, 47055 Duisburg
This 200-hectare site for sports, leisure and recreation was formed a century ago when a local family firm offered city authorities the three Wedau lakes - Barbara, Margareten and Berta - as well as the surrounding land for a peppercorn rent. With around 60 hectares of open water, 19 kilometres of paths and 30 sports clubs now based there, it is one of the largest sport parks in Germany. At the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, the beach volleyball competition will be played in the Sportpark on two courts sandwiched between the venues for rowing and the Opening Ceremony. Centre Court adjoins the main grandstand of the Regattabhan on a triangle of land in Lake Berta, while the Side Court faces the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena.
