Nestled among the trees on a finger of land by Lake Barbara, the setting of the Amateur-Schwimm-Club Duisburg could barely be more perfect. Since 1923 the club has occupied a prime location in Sportpark Duisburg, a 200-hectare leisure complex to the south of the city center. Easy to reach yet a world away, the 3,500 ASCD members can choose to swim in the natural lake or in the club’s heated 50m outdoor pool, where the water polo competitions of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games will be held.
