Flag Plaza Officially Opened: A Colourful Symbol of International Unity

For several days now, the numerous flags of the participating nations have adorned the area between Grugapark and Messe Essen at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. On Tuesday, the Flag Plaza was inaugurated with an official opening ceremony, which included the raising of the German and FISU flags.

Accompanied by the mayors of the host cities Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, and Mülheim an der Ruhr, FISU President Leonz Eder and adh Chairman Jörg Förster among others, cut the symbolic ribbon to officially inaugurate the Flag Plaza. Following this, Eder and Förster hoisted the German flag into the air.

From Albania to Zimbabwe, the Flag Plaza invites visitors on a small world tour and has already become a popular photo spot for passers-by.
