Do's and Don'ts

As a valued volunteer, your contribution is essential to the success of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. To help you perform your role to the highest standard, we’ve outlined a few important do’s and don’ts. These guidelines will ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Do’s:

  • Be Punctual: Your role as a volunteer is extremely important for ensuring the events run smoothly and correctly. Please commit to your shift and on time.

  • Wear Your Uniform & Accreditation: Always wear your uniform and accreditation. When wearing your uniform, you are representing the entire Games. Wear it with pride and respect.

  • Be Friendly and Professional: Greet athletes, spectators, staff and fellow volunteers with a positive and respectful attitude.

  • Promote Inclusivity: Create a welcoming and accessible environment for all.

  • Respect Everyone: Treat all staff, athletes and spectators with kindness and respect.

  • Stay Informed: Stay up to date with shift times, transport times, and updates throughout the Games.

  • Follow Instructions: Always listen and follow instructions provided by your supervisor and obey the rules set out by the Organization and the German Government.

  • Take Time to Rest: Make sure that you relax whenever you have breaks. You will receive a meal in your shift break – make sure to eat well and stay properly hydrated.

 Don’ts:

  • Don’t Miss Your Shift: If you are unable to attend, notify the volunteer management staff as early as possible.

  • Don’t Share Confidential Information: Refrain from sharing information provided to you by the Volunteer team as well as avoid sharing your accreditation online.

  • Don’t Use Your Phone Excessively: Avoid using your private phone during shifts.

  • Don’t Wear Unauthorized Clothing: During your shift, you are only allowed to wear your uniform. The uniform must be worn before arriving at the venue and until the end of your shift.

  • Don’t Consume Alcohol or Drugs: The use, possession, or distribution of drugs and alcohol during shifts or in your volunteer uniform is strictly forbidden. We will have a volunteer thank you event where we can celebrate.

  • Smoking is Not Allowed While On Shift: Outside of your shifts, make sure to only smoke in the designated smoking areas.

  • Don’t Solicit Autographs or Photos: All volunteers should always maintain professionalism around athletes and officials.

  • Don’t put yourself at risk: Avoid putting yourself into a harmful situation. Protect your health and wellbeing.
